SUMMARY:Study of the Tablet of Medicine—Lawh-i-Tibb
DESCRIPTION:In the Lawh-i-Tibb (Tablet of Medicine)\, Bahá’u’lláh relates medical and dietary advice. Written in terms familiar to physicians from the old school of Eastern healing\, much can be gleaned from it today. Without an authoritative translation\, Dr. Sam Delchad will guide participants through a study of this important tablet in English. He has been leading the group\, Studying the Writings in Arabic\, since 2020\, and they would like to open these two special sessions on November 9th & 16th covering the Tablet of Medicine to others not familiar with the Arabic language. All are invited. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDr. Sam Dalchad\n\n\n\n\n\nDr. Sam Delchad is a sixth-generation Bahá’í. Born in Jordan and educated in the U.K.\, he has been living in Southern California for nearly 40 years. \n\n\n\nDr. Delchad has served on both elected and appointed Bahá’í institutions on two continents\, and currently serves on the Regional Council for California. \n\n\n\nHe has lectured extensively on the Bahá’í Faith\, and facilitated formal and informal studies of the Faith\, with emphasis on the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh. \n\n\n\nHe has also been engaged in translating the Writings from Arabic into English\, although said translations are unofficial. \n\n\n\nProfessionally\, Dr. Delchad is an Associate of the Royal Institute of Chemistry\, and is currently co-owner and managing partner of a specialty chemical company that serves the petroleum and environmental industries.

SUMMARY:The Invitational Framework for Social Transformation | Seacoast Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Is there another way to move towards that better world that we all know is possible?  \n\n\n\nIn this era of extreme polarization between all kinds of people\, it often feels like we are just recycling hostilities and not really making progress towards social justice or greater human well-being. Yet\, a simple frame shift—from opposition to invitation—opens up new vistas and presents new solutions.  \n\n\n\nIn this workshop\, we will explore just what is meant by the “invitational perspective” and experiment with how to apply it. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis interactive zoom workshop is free of charge and is intended for residents of the Maine/New Hampshire Seacoast area. Registration is required and attendance is limited to 30 participants. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLayli Maparyan\, Ph.D.\, is Executive Director of the Wellesley Centers for Women\, a women and gender focused research and action institute at Wellesley College\, where she is also Professor and Chair of the Africana Studies Department.
