When he died in June 2015\, the New York Times declared him “one of the most accomplished recorders of the American experience.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“What attracted us to Harold’s work was he had a love of people and of beauty. That love comes through so strongly in his photographs. At the exhibit opening\, she will share some stories of Harold’s life and work and be available for questions. \n\n\n\nFeinstein was also a master teacher\, helping many photographers develop their craft. DESCRIPTION:Families Building Vibrant Communities through Deepening Bonds of Spiritual Connection | August 22nd – 26th\n\n\n\n\nPre-Registration will be open from 9:00 AM through 11:30 PM on Sunday\, June 9th. This program will have a two-step registration process in hopes of creating a smoother\, faster\, and more equitable experience. \n\n\n\nAn important note: The Planning Team will be handling the registration\, housing and payments for this program (rather than Green Acre). All inquiries should be made by contacting the Planning Team at leah.conte.nz@gmail.com. \n\n\n\nThe two-step process will be as follows:Pre-Registration \n\n\n\n\nOn Saturday\, June 8th at 9:00 AM Eastern Time\, we will open our Pre-Registration form.\n\n\n\nThis simplified form will ask for only basic information for each family registering.\n\n\n\nPlease note: Filling out this initial form does not mean one has registered for the session.\n\n\n\nPre-registration Link (live at 9:00 AM\, June 8th)\n\n\n\n\nFormal Registration \n\n\n\n\nSoon after the pre-registration\, the process of formally inviting people to register will begin. Since we have such a large variety of housing\, this process can take several weeks or longer.\n\n\n\nAll inquiries should be made to leah.conte.nz@gmail.com.\n\n\n\nPlease be sure not to make any travel arrangements until you have formally registered.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProgram Description\n\n\n\nIn this family focused program\, formerly Human Family Homecoming\, we will be exploring the role individuals\, families\, and nuclei play in the building of vibrant and spiritually connected communities\, with a special focus on the importance of home visits. \n\n\n\nEach morning\, participants will work to build capacity in learning how to have deepened conversations through the study of training institute materials\, current guidance from the Universal House of Justice\, and select Holy Writings. Concurrent children’s classes\, a junior youth program\, and a youth program will also touch on this theme each morning. On some mornings\, all ages will be integrated together. The program aims to offer lots of opportunities for whole families to engage in developing capacities as they understand their role as extended families of protagonists. \n\n\n\nAfternoons will be reserved for a plethora of intergenerational activities\, meant to engage the whole family from toddlers to elders\, infused with the arts\, opportunities to serve and practice what was learned during the morning studies\, special devotional gatherings\, porch talks\, connection\, and lots of joy! Evenings will consist of two performances\, a dance party\, and a game night \, with access each evening to the cafe. There will also be ample time to continue conversations and deepen connections throughout the whole weekend. \n\n\n\nAll ages and abilities are welcome to join us\, and we hope families will leave inspired and deepened in their understanding of how they\, as a nucleus\, can create deeper bonds within their families\, their own home communities\, and the extended connections beyond. This program has a special emphasis on children\, junior youth\, and youth and is being planned and carried out by the Kelsey family in dedication to loved ones who have passed on to the Abhá Kingdom before us. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAn important note: The Planning Team will be handling the registration\, housing and payments for this program (rather than Green Acre). DESCRIPTION:Balancing the Feminine & Masculine\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin us for the Opening Reception for Qualities of Equality from 6 to 8pm. We put out a call to artists asking: \n\n\n\n\nWhat are the unexamined and inherited assumptions that create gender prejudice?\n\n\n\nWhat are examples of masculine and feminine qualities? How can we balance those qualities in ourselves? In our families\, in our communities?\n\n\n\nHow do we bring mental alertness\, intuition and spiritual qualities of love and service into our families\, communities\, and institutions? \n\n\n\nHow does one reflect on deeper assumptions that generate gender inequality? How do we change those assumptions?\n\n\n\n\nCome see how the artists answered and join the conversation! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis event is free. Registration is encouraged but not required. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nArtist Call\n\n\n\nOur understanding is that “that which makes human beings human—their inherent dignity and nobility—is neither male nor female. The search for meaning\, for purpose\, for community; the capacity to love\, to create\, to persevere\, has no gender. This has profound implications for the organization of every aspect of human society.” 1 \n\n\n\nAs we look at our communities\, our families and ourselves we see the deep effects of gender prejudice. We see how girls and women have been “restricted to narrow spheres of activity in the life of society\, denied educational opportunities and basic human rights\, subjected to violence\, and frequently treated as less than human” 2 and “have been prevented from realizing their true potential.” 3 And how this also limits the true potential for boys and men as well. \n\n\n\n“The damaging effects of gender prejudice are a fault line beneath the foundation of our national life. The gains for women rest uneasily on unchanged\, often unexamined\, inherited assumptions. Much remains to be done. The achievement of full equality requires a new understanding of who we are\, what is our purpose in life\, and how we relate to one another—an understanding that will compel us to reshape our lives and thereby our society.” 4 \n\n\n\n“…force is losing its dominance\, and mental alertness\, intuition\, and the spiritual qualities of love and service\, in which woman is strong\, are gaining ascendancy. DESCRIPTION:NOTE: This program has reached capacity and registration is closed. \n\n\n\nFamilies Building Community\n\n\n\nThis year’s Summer School will build on the experience of Winter School 2023. We will be studying\, consulting\, taking action and reflecting together with the aim of bringing what we learn at Green Acre back to our communities. \n\n\n\nWhat is the intersection between families and the 9 Year Plan? What practical skills\, attitudes and spiritual qualities are needed for families to serve the community together? What capacities can families develop in efforts to build vibrant communities? \n\n\n\nIn recent guidance\, the Universal House of Justice encouraged the National Spiritual Assembly to consider how permanent schools can “…complement and support the work of the institute…” and the region where they are located. In an effort to further those aims we are both designing the program to complement and support the work of the institute and prioritizing families and friends from the Northeast who have not attended previously.

Drawing on both science and religion as two complementary systems of knowledge and practice\, ISGP fosters the creation of learning environments where knowledge and experience can be shared and systematized. SUMMARY:Families Building Vibrant Communities
DESCRIPTION:In this family focused program\, formerly Human Family Homecoming\, we will be exploring the role individuals\, families\, and nuclei play in the building of vibrant and spiritually connected communities\, with a special focus on the importance of home visits. \n\n\n\nEach morning\, participants will work to build capacity in learning how to have deepened conversations through the study of training institute materials\, current guidance from the Universal House of Justice\, and select Holy Writings. Concurrent children’s classes\, a junior youth program\, and a youth program will also touch on this theme each morning. On some mornings\, all ages will be integrated together. The program aims to offer lots of opportunities for whole families to engage in developing capacities as they understand their role as extended families of protagonists. \n\n\n\nAfternoons will be reserved for a plethora of intergenerational activities\, meant to engage the whole family from toddlers to elders\, infused with the arts\, opportunities to serve and practice what was learned during the morning studies\, special devotional gatherings\, porch talks\, connection\, and lots of joy! Evenings will consist of two performances\, a dance party\, and a game night \, with access each evening to the cafe. There will also be ample time to continue conversations and deepen connections throughout the whole weekend. \n\n\n\nAll ages and abilities are welcome to join us\, and we hope families will leave inspired and deepened in their understanding of how they\, as a nucleus\, can create deeper bonds within their families\, their own home communities\, and the extended connections beyond. This program has a special emphasis on children\, junior youth\, and youth and is being planned and carried out by the Kelsey family in dedication to loved ones who have passed on to the Abhá Kingdom before us. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAn important note: The Planning Team is handling the registration\, housing and payments for this program (rather than Green Acre). It is a celebration of life and the art of unified ensemble playing. \n\n\n\nLIMITED TICKETS AVAILABLE \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRandy Armstrong has been hailed by the Boston Globe as “a sure-fingered\, guitar virtuoso” and Downbeat Magazine has called his music “a marvelous kaleidoscope of shifting melodies\, rhythms and instrumental colors.” He was the Director of the Phillips Exeter Academy African Drumming Ensemble and North Indian Music Program from 1991 to 2020 and has taught courses for the Plymouth State University Integrated Arts Graduate Studies. Randy was selected to be the 2017-2018 artist in residence for the Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra and was the recipient of the 2017 New Hampshire Governor’s Arts Award for Arts Education. Randy is the co-founder of Do’a World Music Ensemble\, Unu Mondo and Beyond Borders has performed throughout the United States\, Canada\, Alaska\, Belize\, India\, Cuba\, Puerto Rico\, Slovenia\, Croatia\, Italy and South Africa and West Africa. He has appeared on over 60 albums\, theater and film scores and has been the recipient of numerous grants from the National Endowment on the Arts and the New England Foundation for the Arts. As a composer and recording artist\, he has released a solo CD: No Regrets: and a double CD soundtrack for the 4-part PBS primetime series\, Dinner on the Diner filmed in Spain\, South Africa\, Scotland and Southeast Asia. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBen Baldwin has been playing music in the Seacoast since 1976\, primarily with his band The Big Note. People are still talking about the experiences at the previous conferences\, using words like “magic” and “transformational”. \n\n\n\nThis is a conference like no other. DESCRIPTION:Audacity: The Other Nature of Worship\n\n\n\n\nResponding to the inmost longing of every heart to commune with its Maker\, they carry out acts of collective worship in diverse settings\, uniting with others in prayer\, awakening spiritual susceptibilities\, and shaping a pattern of life distinguished for its devotional character. \n—The Universal House of Justice\n\n\n\nMany people are seeking to be transformed through having a conversation with God. They want active participation\, want to feel the spirit of the Almighty in their DNA\, want to have their souls quickened with that spirit. With this goal in mind\, this weekend’s training will focus on building expertise and capacity necessary to drive the core activities of this current plan. It is through this particular devotional model\, in its mechanics as well as its determined spirit\, that Lloyd Lawrence and Kenneth Ray\, African-Americans raised in the black church\, and curators of a seven-year endeavor known as the Hush Harbor devotional\, wish to share their experience and assist the friends on how to extend devotional brave spaces not only for black folk or Bahá’ís\, but for anyone who enters Baha’i spaces seeking shelter\, fellowship\, protection and worship. It is the intention of the facilitators that the participants learn to create self-directing devotional environments that can sustain a rich and diversified range of cultural expression. We joyfully invite you to a weekend of exploration\, research\, and play. \n\n\n\nA Culture of Learning:\n\n\n\n\nRegardless of a community’s starting point\, it has advanced the process of growth when it has combined qualities of faith\, perseverance and commitment with a readiness to learn. Lloyd completed undergraduate work at Tyler School of Art where he studied under the tutelage of renowned poet Sonia Sanchez\, followed by postgraduate research at the University of Washington with famed Harlem Renaissance artist\, Jacob Lawrence. Lloyd is currently facilitating [The Well] a progressive writing workshop and poetry clearinghouse for future devotional endeavors that build on both information drawn from the former Hush Harbor devotional gathering and meaningful conversation that was trademark of the Urban Juke Joint (a nobler expression) open mike experience. \n\n\n\nKenneth Ray is currently a Math Tutor who works mainly with highly motivated but financially limited middle and high school students in the New York City metropolitan area. In addition to teaching\, he was a former Assistant Basketball Coach for the Berkeley College Men’s Basketball team for 15 years\, earning the nickname “Coach K.” He currently serves as a member of the Local Spiritual Assembly in the City of the Covenant. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHush Harbor History:\n\n\n\nThe worship experience called “Hush Harbor” maps its beginnings in secret gatherings held by enslaved Africans in America. The Hush Harbor or what author Albert J. Raboteau referred to as the “Invisible Church\,” allowed the slave to call on the name of the Lord in relief. In order to keep their voices from carrying\, wet fabric suspended over tree branches provided safe spaces for plotting freedom as well as safe spaces to pray for freedom. \n\n\n\nThis program is intended for youth and adults; there will be no program for children or junior youth.

DESCRIPTION:Winter School 2024 | Families & the Nine-Year Plan\n\n\n\nProgram dates: December 27th through 31st \n\n\n\nThis year’s Winter School will build on the experiences of the previous two seasonal schools. We will be studying\, consulting\, taking action and reflecting together with the aim of bringing what we learn at Green Acre back to our communities. \n\n\n\nWhat is the intersection between families and the 9 Year Plan? What practical skills\, attitudes and spiritual qualities are needed for families to serve the community together? What capacities can families develop in efforts to build vibrant communities? \n\n\n\nIn recent guidance\, the Universal House of Justice encouraged the National Spiritual Assembly to consider how permanent schools can “…complement and support the work of the institute…” and the region where they are located. In an effort to further those aims we are both designing the program to complement and support the work of the institute and prioritizing families and friends from the Northeast who have not attended previously. \n\n\n\nPre-Registration | October 16th at 6:00 PM\, Eastern Time   \n\n\n\nWinter School will have a two-step registration process in hopes of creating a smoother\, faster\, and more equitable experience. \n\n\n\nThe two-step process will be as follows: \n\n\n\n\nPre-Registration\n\nOn Wednesday\, October 16th at 6:00 PM\, Eastern Time\, we will open our Pre-Registration form.\n\n\n\nThis simplified form will ask for only basic information for each family registering.\n\n\n\nPlease note: Filling out this initial form does not mean one has registered for Winter School.\n\n\n\nWe will be prioritizing families and friends from the Northeast who have not attended previously as well as volunteers. Yet\, humanity is caught in illusions of competition\, contention\, and independence from each other and the earth. \n\n\n\nThese illusions have reached the point where their consequences are disrupting our climate\, our societies\, and ourselves\, disproportionately affecting vulnerable populations. Meeting the challenges of global climate change is not possible without universal cooperation\, empathy\, justice\, and recognition of our interdependence. SUMMARY:Inhabit: A Permaculture Perspective
DESCRIPTION:Part of the One Shared Earth film series\, Inhabit: A Permaculture Perspective shares how people are using a set of ecological design principles in rural\, suburban\, and urban landscapes to shift from destructive to restorative practices. Get specific ideas of how you can work with nature to take what is a problem and find solutions with multiple benefits\, in your home and community. \n\n\n\nIn times of great change\, we need stories that offer paths of inspiration and action.   \n\n\n\nJoin us for a film series featuring examples of people working in partnership with nature\, including drawing from the wisdom of Indigenous peoples and traditions. We can discover the courage and creativity that comes from seeing ourselves as part of a living earth\, rather than separate from nature.  \n\n\n\nEach evening includes: \n\n\n\n\nTime to tour an art show about One Shared Earth\, with over 80 pieces of visual art\, poetry\, and sculpture. \n\n\n\nA film exploring one aspect of these themes\, e.g.\, through food\, waterways\, and land. \n\n\n\nAn opportunity to discuss the film in small group conversations and get connected with local organizations working on these issues. \n\n\n\n\nThis event is free to attend. Registration is encouraged but not required. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSeacoast NH Permaculture\n\n\n\nPermaculture aims to regenerate healthy\, productive landscapes and communities by consciously applying ecological principles to the design of human habitats.  \n\n\n\nWe are happy to have Seacoast NH Permaculture as a co-sponsor for this screening; at the event you can learn more about their offerings.

DESCRIPTION:A gathering for spiritual empowerment and engagement\n\n\n\n\nHeartfelt concern must prompt sustained effort to build communities that offer hope in place of despair\, unity in place of conflict. – Baha’i writings \n\n\n\n\nFor those looking for inspiration and ways you can channel your care into fruitful action\, join us at Green Acre\, in Eliot\, Maine\, for a free gathering exploring a spiritual approach to community-building that has taken root in our area. You can: \n\n\n\n\nHear stories from local people about how they are taking action to improve their communities.\n\n\n\n\n\nLearn how those actions are connected to a broader vision of unity\, education\, and empowerment derived from the teachings of the Baha’i Faith. \n\n\n\n\n\nEngage in conversations to explore valuable approaches and experiences and share learnings with fellow community-builders.   \n\n\n\n\n\nEnjoy being immersed in an environment infused with spirituality and the arts.\n\n\n\n\nPeople of all backgrounds\, faiths and belief systems are welcome to join this gathering and the community-building process underway in our area and around the world.  \n\n\n\nThere will be activities for children\, teens\, and adults. Invite your friends\, family members\, neighbors\, and coworkers!  \n\n\n\nAttending the entire day is encouraged\, but you are welcome to attend any portion of the day.
