Exploring Justice through Beauty
“The well-being of mankind, its peace and security, are unattainable unless and until its unity is firmly established.”
—Bahá’í Writings
We find ourselves at a crossroads. How will we work together to solve the most pressing problems that confront us? The forces of materialism, inequality, and racism are striving to tear us apart. How do we tap into the creative power of unity to build a prosperous future for all of us? How do we find a shared vision of the unity we long for? Does unity mean uniformity?
True unity comes from diverse elements being harmonized into something greater without erasing the unique contributions of each part. We are not looking to the past because the just, diverse, and united society we desire has never existed. We must work to create it. To be created it must be envisioned with hope, which is one of the powers of the artist.
We need artists to shed light on both the injustices in the world and show us possibilities for building something new. How can your artistic expression bring insight into this creative power of unity? Bring together and harmonize diverse elements using this power?
We are seeking artists of all backgrounds and disciplines to submit work that explores the deep and profound power of unity to change hearts, minds and behaviors to build new communities that will create a prosperous future for everyone.
