Sat 3/11 @ 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm EST
Hey kids and parents! And those who used to be kids and aren’t parents! Do you like to create but don’t find yourself prioritizing creativity or don’t have the art supplies on hand? Hard to carve out the time to create—especially as a family? Then come to Green Acre on Saturday March 11th from 2:00-5:00 PM for an afternoon of art-making (or if “art-making” is intimidating, then just consider it playing with art supplies!). This event is open to EVERYONE (especially kiddos)!
- this gathering is free of charge
- art supplies will be provided by Green Acre
- you’ll have the opportunity to create with others or create in solitude
- we welcome art of all mediums
Why? Because Green Acre thinks art and art-making are important and we want EVERYONE to be able to create! We especially want to give families a chance to create together, and we want to engage with our local community around the theme of our current art exhibit: Creative Power of Unity! We’ll supply the space, the time and the art supplies (and a little inspiration) and you all just bring your unique selves and get to creating!
We’ll start off at 2:00 PM with a more detailed explanation of the afternoon, what creative options are available to you (we’ll have several different art-making locations around our campus) and briefly dip into the themes of our current exhibit and how they can inform your art-making during the afternoon (or not—what you make is up to you!). You’ll have a chance to check out our current exhibit, and then you’ll go to your stations of choice – whether that’s the art room where you can paint, or if it’s warm enough perhaps sketching under a beautiful tree while sitting on one of our hand-made benches, or writing a poem or song in a peaceful classroom by yourself, or knitting in the café while chatting with others and sipping a hot drink!
Then we’ll wrap up the afternoon by gathering again to share our creations and reflect on our experiences (don’t worry though, you don’t have to share if you don’t want to). And we’ll be done by 5:00 PM—just in time for dinner! And if you can only join us for an hour, feel free to drop in any time!
If you’re curious about our current art exhibit and the themes that inform it, you can learn more about that at Creative Power of Unity.
We look forward to seeing you on Saturday, March 11th from 2:00-5:00 PM in the Kelsey Center building (follow the event signs) on Green Acre’s campus, located at 61 Green Acre Dr, Eliot, ME. If you have questions about this event, please email us at greenacre@usbnc.org or call us at (207) 439-7200.
