SUMMARY:Chitra
DESCRIPTION:Chitra (meaning “portrait”) is an evening-length Kathak solo with Ariaki Dandawate that presents distinct vignettes of the form’s rhythmic precision and expressive range. Through traditional compositions\, the work highlights how Kathak’s unique technique and storytelling complement each other\, from intricate footwork and complex rhythmic structures to nuanced expression. \n\n\n\nAt the heart of Chitra is Kathak’s dynamic relationship with its audience. Through spoken rhythmic syllables and interactive exchange the performance transforms rhythm into imagery: painting moments drawn from everyday life and the natural world. Humor\, playfulness\, tenderness\, and intensity emerge side by side\, offering a richly textured experience. \n\n\n\nEngaging and immediate\, Chitra presents Kathak as an art form driven by rhythm and human connection — one that speaks across backgrounds and invites audiences into a shared space of feeling\, imagination\, and discovery. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAriaki Dandawate is a Kathak artist\, teacher and performer based in the Greater Boston and New York Metropolitan Areas. She has trained for over 20 years under Archana Joglekar and holds a Master’s degree in Kathak. As an emerging solo performer and choreographer\, Ariaki’s work aims to contextualize her practice for uninitiated audiences\, thereby emphasizing the cultural relevance of traditional Kathak practices on the contemporary stage. Her process is informed by her experiences as a 1st generation-American who shares a deep connection to her Indian heritage\, and who has spent decades honing her craft under a cultural backdrop foreign to Kathak. \n\n\n\nTo that end\, Ariaki’s diverse artistic career spanning performance\, education and choreography has allowed her to further her outreach as an artist. She has performed immersive solo performances within North America and abroad at the Battery Dance Festival\, Rubin Museum (NYC)\, Ursuline Arts Center (Kentucky)\, Aki Studio (Toronto)\, Multicultural Arts Center (Boston)\, David and Dorothea Garfield Theater (San Diego)\, to name a few. \n\n\n\nIn addition\, Ariaki was commissioned to create and present collaborative work on several occasions at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (NY)\, Multicultural Arts Center (Boston)\, and Arts At the Armory (Boston). \n\n\n\nIn addition to her work as a performer\, Ariaki has served as a cultural consultant on projects like the Asian American Ballet Project (Boston)’s reimagination of “La Bayadere”. She was invited as a guest lecturer on “Storytelling in Kathak” for the Ohio State University’s Theater Department. At present\, she is a 2026 Lotus Fellow with Arts India US\, where she is developing original work that challenges the boundaries and contexts of Kathak presentation. \n\n\n\nIn addition to Kathak\, Ariaki has been training in Odissi with Guru Bijayini Satpathy since 2019 through virtual\, in-person\, and residential intensive formats. With a unique blend of tradition and innovation\, Ariaki’s performances and workshops aim to bring the rich cultural heritage of Kathak to a wider audience. Through creative choreography and immersive storytelling\, Ariaki’s work transcends boundaries and captivates audiences of all ages.

SUMMARY:Artist Call | Migration - A Journey Towards Oneness
DESCRIPTION:An invitation to Artists\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe invite you to use your artistic expression\, whether in painting\, photography\, sculpture\, poetry\, music\, dance\, live performance and other forms – to explore these questions and spark meaningful conversations and creations related to the theme of Migration: \n\n\n\n\nWhat does it feel like to be truly welcomed in a new place\, or to offer that welcome to someone else?\n\n\n\n\n\nHow does your own family or personal story of movement\, chosen or forced — across land\, identity\, or time — connect to the larger story of human migration?\n\n\n\n\n\nIn what ways can the beauty of cultural diversity reveal our deeper spiritual oneness? How might contrasting elements — color\, texture\, form\, or sound — express harmony?\n\n\n\n\n\nHow do borders\, seen or unseen\, shape our sense of belonging or exclusion?\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat does it mean not only to be welcomed\, but to reclaim voice\, culture\, and dignity in a new place? How might your art illuminate this transformation?\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat stories\, textures\, and memories do displaced people bring that enrich the collective identity of any nation?\n\n\n\n\n\nOf course\, your creative process need not be limited to these questions.\n\n\n\n\n\nHave an idea for a live show or discourse space? Write us at art@greenacre.org\n\n\n\n\nImportant Dates\n\n\n\n\nOn-line call to discuss the Artist Call and themes (optional): Wednesday\, January 7th\, 2026 | 7pm\n\n\n\nSubmit art for review by Monday\, March 23rd\, 2026 | Midnight.\n\n\n\nThe curating team will review submissions and respond to artists by March 30th\, 2026\n\n\n\nFinal electronic file or physical piece(s) to be received at Green Acre by April 13th\, 2026\n\n\n\nThe show will open May 2nd\, 2026\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“This show is very personal to me. The world’s problems can seem overwhelming or too big. But this call is a powerful directive for all of us as individuals. It means the world when someone makes me feel like I belong\, especially when it comes from someone of the culture of that country.” \n\n\n\n– Gordon Arzu (Contributing artist and immigrant from Honduras) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMigration\n\n\n\nA Journey Towards Oneness\n\n\n\nArtist Call\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOurs is a migratory species\,…Indeed\, almost everyone can find a story of migration in their family history. Rather than a problem to be solved\, this perspective emphasizes that migration is the means by which human beings throughout history have solved their problems\, explored the world and improved their lives. \n– Mohsin Hamid\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Innate Nobility of all\n\n\n\nIn our previous show\, Created Noble\, we asked artists to explore the concept of the innate nobility of every person. To view humanity as one human family vs. “in” and “out” groups\, is conducive to building the world anew. Envision a world where everyone feels of value regardless of race\, creed\, culture\, sex or status. Imagine the love\, compassion\, empathy\, beauty and justice that would thrive in such a society. \n\n\n\nEveryone seeks justice\, love and safety\n\n\n\nPeople leave their homelands for many reasons—quality of life\, systemic poverty\, conflict\, persecution\, displacement\, environmental collapse\, and the failures of governance. Yet even as migrants face physical danger\, exploitation\, and emotional hardship\, their journey is also an act of profound courage. People move not only out of desperation but out of a fierce belief in life\, dignity\, and the possibility of justice. \n\n\n\nWith what spirit do we receive those who have shown such extraordinary strength? \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGive me your tired\, your poor\, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free… \n– Emma Lazarus\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nShed the light of a boundless love on every human being whom you meet\, whether of your country\, your race\, your political party\, or of any other nation\, color or shade of political opinion…while you work in this ingathering of the scattered peoples of the world beneath the shadow of the almighty tent of unity.   \n– ‘Abdu’l‑Bahá\n\n\n\nDiversity strengthens society\n\n\n\nMigration is not a crisis of strangers entering our borders; it is a story of human beings carrying the seeds of new culture\, new insight\, and new forms of unity. Every newcomer has the potential to expand our vision of what it means to be one people. The loving welcome of humanity from other countries and nations has the potential to uplift\, advance and create a safe haven for all. \n\n\n\n\nEach culture has many salutary elements that are conducive to promoting unity in diversity\, which must be reinforced…Meaningful interactions among people hailing from different human groups foster an environment within which advances in culture can occur.  \n– The Universal House of Justice\n\n\n\nUltimately we are citizens of one world\n\n\n\nAs we bring the best of our culture and nationality to the communities where we reside\, we must ultimately realize we are citizens of one world. A world where our destinies are bound up with each other as we are inextricably linked physically\, materially and spiritually. In these turbulent times\, this perspective can help us build a just\, diverse and united society. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nToday’s reality needs a conception of our identity that is wider\, one which expands to include all of humanity. It means that we need to develop a strong sense of loyalty or responsibility towards all of humanity\, rather than only towards those sharing similar characteristics. It means that institutions\, communities\, and individuals look at the interest of each member of the human family\, rather than only their own. \n– Bahá’í International Community\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe surface of the earth is one home; humanity is one family and household. Distinctions and boundaries are artificial\, human. Why should there be discord and strife…? All must become united and coordinated in service to the world of humanity. \n– ‘Abdu’l‑Bahá

SUMMARY:Copper to Gold | A Transformative Approach to Race Amity
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to host the first offer of Copper to Gold: A Transformative Approach to Race Amity to be held at Green Acre. Copper to Gold is a course designed to explore and address the unconscious manifestations of superiority that Shoghi Effendi referred to in The Advent of Divine Justice. \n\n\n\nCopper to Gold is a learning space that invites participants into a process of self reflection that frankly and honestly examines unconscious assumptions\, inherited patterns of thought\, and subtle senses of superiority that can exist within us. The course approaches each individual as a noble soul\, capable of growth\, humility\, and transformation. \n\n\n\nThis can be especially helpful for those on the frontiers of learning as they engage in the community building process. Together\, the groups will explore insights\, share experiences\, and consider how these can be incorporated into meaningful action in our personal lives\, communities\, institutions\, and all fields of service. \n\n\n\nThe course is limited to 30 participants. It will take place over eight weeks of online sessions\, creating a consistent space for collective learning and trust-building. The online sessions will begin the week of April 26th. The program will culminate in an in-person gathering at Green Acre July 9-12 where the final sessions will be completed and next steps considered. Scholarships for the stay at Green Acre are available if needed. \n\n\n\nTo register your interest in participating\, please use this link and enter Green Acre under “Name of Your Group”. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis is an opportunity not only to learn\, but to walk alongside others\, manifesting the spirit of the oneness of humanity. Feel free to invite your friends from the wider community. Additional information about Copper to Gold can be found at coppertogold.org. There will be an information session on Zoom on April 12th at 7 pm Eastern. \n\n\n\n\nZoom link | Copper to Gold Informational Session | April 12 @ 7pm\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis program is organized by Cooper to Gold and sponsored by the Regional Baha’i Council of the Northeastern States. \n\n\n\n—

The same process will follow with the second and third rounds of invitations to formally register. \n\n\n\nThe multi-step process will be as follows: \n\n\n\n\nPre-Registration\n\nOn Wednesday\, September 2 at 9:00 AM\, Eastern Time\, we will open our Pre-Registration form.\n\n\n\nThis simplified form will ask for only basic information for each family and is an indicator of interest in attending. Filling out this initial form does not mean one has registered for the program.\n\n\n\nFor this program\, first priority will be given to residents of the Northeastern States\, and then those who haven’t attended Green Acre family programs previously or recently. Since these programs depend on volunteers to assist with the kitchen and in hospitality\, as well as teaching children’s classes\, those serving in this way will also be given priority. Because of this prioritization\, this is not a first come\, first served process.\n\n\n\nPre-registration Link (live at 9:00 AM\, September 2\, 2026)\n\n\n\n\n\nInvitation to Formal Registration\n\nAfter the initial Pre-Registration period\, for those invited to the program\, we will send a separate link to formally invite you to register and you will have three days to register.\n\n\n\nWe will do series of rounds of invitations beginning on September 23rd and lasting approximately six weeks.\n\n\n\nFor those who don’t receive an invitation in the first round\, they will automatically be placed on the waiting list and the same process will follow with the additional rounds.\n\n\n\nPlease be sure not to make any travel arrangements until you have formally registered.

SUMMARY:Winter School 2026
DESCRIPTION:Winter School 2025 | December 26th through December 30th. \n\n\n\nThis year’s Winter School will continue to explore building new patterns of family life using the March 19\, 2025 message from the Universal House of Justice. The letter and its themes will be explored with all age levels and classes. This is a highly interactive and participatory program. Because it is designed for the whole family\, attendance of all members of the family is expected including all the adult participants.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“The nature of the flourishing communities that the Bahá’í world is striving to raise has profound implications for the family. It is within the family that the individual is born and nurtured\, and within the family that individuals begin to learn how to live together with others. The family unit is the basic building block of community\, and beyond\, of the entire social order.” \n\n\n\n\n\n“Learning about a new pattern of family life is\, therefore\, an integral part of the effort to learn about the release of the society-building power of the Faith.” \n\n\n\n– March 19\, 2025 letter from the Universal House of Justice \n\n\n\n\nBecause of the high demand for these programs\, there is a multi-step registration process. The first step is pre-registration which allows families to indicate their interest in attending the program. This is then followed by three rounds of invitations where families will be invited to formally register for the program.
