For Nina is a powerful, interdisciplinary tribute to Nina Simone, presented by VLA DANCE. Blending contemporary dance with live vocals and piano, the work honors Simone’s artistry, humanity, and enduring legacy.

Rooted in Black diasporic movement practices, For Nina weaves together spontaneity and structure through elements of line dancing, hand percussion, syncopated rhythm, and voice. The performance explores themes of sisterhood, liberation, love, and remembrance, offering an intimate and resonant experience that reflects Nina Simone’s fearless truth-telling and emotional depth.
