Welcome to Food Services

We look forward to serving alongside you for the duration of your service. Below is a brief overview of the department, expectations, and schedule.

Your service could consist of food prep, dishwashing, serving food, and kitchen and dining room cleaning. This is a vital contribution to the social and physical beauty of Green Acre. Nourishing food, the conversations that carry on from the program, and the fellowship generated all occur within the space that we all help to create. The demands can be a lot, and a great deal of time will be spent on your feet, but the fulfillment of a meal enjoyed by the friends is a great reward.

Shifts

A typical day will consist of an 8-hour shift that could start as early as 6 am. Most of the time the closing shift will end between 8 and 9 pm. The schedules vary based on the needs of the program.

Shift Roles

The shift roles will be decided based on current demands and skill level.

Kitchen Prep

  • Serving and monitoring buffet tables
  • Storing food after meals
  • Washing produce and prepping vegetables
  • Cleaning
  • Miscellaneous kitchen duties

Dishes and General Cleaning

  • Bussing, washing dishes, putting dry dishes away
  • Trash/Recycling
  • Additional cleaning and floors

Dining Room

  • Monitoring and stocking buffet table and salad bar
  • Restock condiments and paper products
  • Monitor dining room trash
  • Floor cleaning
  • Wiping down tables, counters, and buffet tables
