French/Anishinaabe
Dolorès Contré is an interdisciplinary artist and teacher, Franco-Anishinaabe. Her work combines visuals arts and symbols with storytelling and drumming. In addition to holding a Bachelor's degree in Art Education and a Master's degree in Psychosocial Practice Studies, she has learned from Elders some ancestral knowledge and skills, whose reappropriation of techniques combined with artistic language, allows her to express a bridge between the dreamworld and the woodland. She is the author of the book A Pedagogy of Native American Spirituality – naa-ka-nah-gay-win, (in French only) which focuses on a transdisciplinary dialogue between expression through the arts and training, an alternative model of mentoring, transmission and transformation using a “Pedagogy through Symbols” approach. His latest digital production, Coffret_Docomig, in connection with his course on Aboriginal Spiritual Traditions at the University of Montreal, is becoming a major tool in his practice of environmental education, ethics and world awareness.
