Janet Ruhe-Schoen was born in 1950 in Allentown, Pa. and has since lived on the Mescalero Apache land in New Mexico; in Piura, Peru and Santiago de Chile, as well as New York State. She’s traveled in Russia (then the Soviet Union), Israel, Mexico, almost every state in the U.S., Spain and France. She now lives in at Desert Rose Baha’i Institute in Eloy, Arizona where she’s a writer-in-residence. She’s published several books of biography: A Love Which Does Not Wait, about 9 great peace pioneers; Rejoice in my Gladness: the Life of Táhirih; and Champions of Oneness: Louis Gregory and His Shining Circle. She’s also a visual artist and poet. She’s had a life-long concern with social justice and that’s been supported by her fascination with ‘Abdu’l-Bahá that has endured since she first saw His face in a photograph when she was 18.
