A nine-pointed star, created by using a vintage hand-crocheted doily as a stencil, glows through concentric circles of thousands of tiny painted stitches. The resulting composition is a central figure inscribed both in a circle and a square, much like the physically perfect body represented in Da Vinci’s famous drawing “Vitruvian Man.” The star, on the other hand, represents not the human body but the human spirit, exerting effort to fulfill its capacities as a peace-maker and bringer of order and harmony.
