Green Acre United

Service Support Team

“Service to all the human race is my perpetual religion.”

— ‘Abdu’l-Bahá

When you go to Green Acre,

… you must have infinite love for each other, each preferring the other before himself…You must love your friend better than yourself; yes, be willing to sacrifice yourself…May everyone point to you and ask, “Why are these people so happy?” I want you to be happy in Green Acre, to laugh, smile and rejoice in order that others may be made happy by you.

– ‘Abdu’l-Bahá

This is a delightful spot;

… the scenery is beautiful, and an atmosphere of spirituality haloes everything. In the future, God willing, Green Acre shall become a great center, the cause of the unity of the world of humanity, the cause of uniting hearts and binding together the East and the West.

— `Abdu’l-Bahá

The urgency of the present hour

… must not obscure the special joy that comes from service. The call to service is an uplifting, all-embracing summons. It attracts every faithful soul, even those weighed down by cares and obligations.

– The Universal House of Justice, Ridvan 2024

This is hallowed ground,

… made so by your vision and sacrifice.
Always remember, this is hallowed ground, which I am pointing out to you.

– ‘Abdu’l-Bahá to Sarah Farmer, founder of Green Acre

The Program

“Here idealists meet and strive to combine recreation with knowledge, rest with service, change with system, freedom with devotion, activity with service. The fame of this spot has spread around the world. But its greatest treasure is the hearts of those who have humbly served, making others happy through their warmth and glow… Green Acre has a message for those who seek the treasures of God concealed in man.”

– Louis Gregory

What is Green Acre United?

Green Acre is grateful for those who have “humbly served” the school. Volunteerism is an absolute necessity to our functioning and that is why, when each department of the Baha’i National Office was asked to conduct a learning experiment, we chose “Create a pool of 20 – 50 consistent volunteers who can be relied upon to serve with regularity.”

What does that mean practically?

  • Green Acre has the number of volunteers needed per program for the entire calendar year
  • That Green Acre intentionally emphasizes with volunteers the spirit of what the Universal House of Justice shared in the 2024 Ridvan message about service – “… the special joy that comes from service. The call to service is an uplifting, all-embracing summons… For in all the ways in which that faithful soul is occupied can be discovered deep-rooted devotion and a lifelong concern for the well-being of others.”
  • That the pool feels like an extension of the Green Acre team embodying the spirit and sacredness of serving this blessed institution.

Thank you for considering being part of this program and initiative.
