Volunteer Expectations

Please take a moment to read through these quotations:

“If one looks for praiseworthy results, and wishes to produce eternal effects…let him make exceeding effort in order that Green Acre may become an assemblage for the Word of God and a gathering place for the spiritual ones of the heavenly World!”

— ‘Abdu’l-Bahá

“The man who makes a piece of notepaper to the best of his ability, conscientiously, concentrating all his forces on perfecting it, is giving praise to God. Briefly, all effort and exertion put forth by man from the fullness of his heart is worship, if it is prompted by the highest motives and the will to do service to humanity. This is worship: to serve mankind and to minister to the needs of the people. Service is prayer. A physician ministering to the sick, gently, tenderly, free from prejudice and believing in the solidarity of the human race, he is giving praise.”

— ‘Abdu’l-Bahá

Expectations

We thank you very much for your offer of service to Green Acre. Our programs cannot happen without the routine commitment of the friends. While we understand that you are volunteering, there are still fundamental expectations that we have for all staff and volunteers.

Commitment

Once you sign up to serve, please make every effort to fulfill the obligation you made to Green Acre. The participants and staff rely heavily upon your generous sacrifice.

Punctuality

Please be on time for your shifts. If you are running late or feeling unwell, please reach out to your Department Coordinator or the Administrative Assistant.

Before ending your shift or leaving for a break, you must touch base with your Department Coordinator.

Off-the Clock Engagements

If the nature of the program allows, we warmly encourage those not on shift to participate—whether by attending devotions or joining part of the session. Details about the program and any public offerings will be shared with you at the time of registration.
