We are pleased to announce that, after many months of preparation filled with setbacks and new opportunities, the intrepid cast lead by playwright and director Najee A. Brown will finally get to perform the full length Seacoast Premiere of The Bus Stop at the Seacoast Repertory Theater. There will be in house performances (with limited, social-distanced seating to meet safety requirements) as well as simultaneous live streaming of those performances beginning August 15th and continuing through September 12th.

The Bus Stop centers around the lives of five black women who although are very different, each have one thing in common, a loved one who is incarcerated. Although these women have varying backgrounds, meeting at the bus stop and forming a relationship with each other changes their lives forever. The playwright experienced the effects that incarceration has on the black community firsthand, as his own father was incarcerated for the majority of his childhood.

We are proud to have been able to provide the space and support for the production to continue despite the pandemic. While we will miss having the production at Green Acre, we are excited to see it come to life at the Seacoast Repertory Theater and live streamed over the internet. The Green Acre team will be there for special conversations with the director and cast after the matinee shows on August 23rd and September 12th.

As part of our work with local schools and youth, we will continue to use scenes from The Bus Stop to spark deep and meaningful conversations around themes such at the Power of Words, Nobility, Justice, Resilience and the Oneness of Humankind.
